The Wind Blows Where It Wishes - John 3:8

Nicodemus - a Pharisee who lived in the conviction of his belief that they were gatekeepers of the Kingdom. Very self-righteous. Lived within a structure of law.

Jesus - destroys the myth of his conviction by speaking these words:

"The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit." John 3:8

Jesus meets with Nicodemus and says "You must be born again." Amidst all that Nicodemus believes that he has, Jesus says "You do not have enough. You must be born again."

Jesus speaks of a glorious salvation that brings eternal life and then compares it to the wind. We would be wise to truly meditate on our salvation. Many times we may take it for granted and in doing that, we lose focus of the journey that brings us daily into abundant life. Our salvation begins with a moment of acceptance and continues as a journey of discovery of the person of Jesus Christ, who lives in us.

The wind blows with a spontaneity and creativity, moving, always moving. That is the characteristic of wind. Its movement can be gentle as a breeze, bold and aggressive as a tornado, or somewhere it between. Yet it moves and we know not where it comes from or where it goes but we see its effects and we hear its sound. How like our salvation is the wind!

The source of the wind is a mystery to us yet we see its effects. Our salvation is a mystery to us - God giving eternal life to man in and through the person of Jesus Christ. Christ in us is not just a one time experience when we go to an altar or pray a prayer. It is life. It is supernatural. It is transformational. It is moving and it is creative in its flow. That is our salvation. We live and move and have our being in Christ and in that we are creative in our expression. Our salvation creates a new person in us and then creativity flows through us.

The conviction of your belief in Jesus Christ, your faith, is rooted in the finished work of the cross. Yet the journey you are on is walking out your salvation in Christ day by day. That is eternal life. What you believe, your conviction, flows forth from your life. You walk a path of the Spirit, and move with a flow, no two people alike.

Our salvation, our union with Christ Jesus, flows in this diversity and uniqueness. As the Holy Spirit reveals Jesus Christ to us, we move in sync with the Spirit. Like the wind we move and flow. Salvation does not allow us the liberty of standing still, having arrived at some point. Salvation places us in Christ and then we move, free, unique and alive. Sometimes I forget that I am a new creation IN CHRIST. Do you?

Conviction = assurance; belief

Your conviction creates your path in life. Just makes sense. You walk in what you believe and what you know. Do you walk in the reality of Christ? Do you flow in His reality? He is the way the truth and the life. Like the wind, we don't know where it comes from but we see its effects. Your salvation has its source in the mystery who is Christ Jesus and its flow is spontaneous. and rooted in Him but like the wind, you move and effect everything around you.

1 Cor. 6:17 - But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.

Your union with Jesus Christ is a journey of awe and wonder of all that He does in and through you. It is not robotic or cloned or status quo. You are creative - a new creation.,

Why do I continually stress creativity? I believe it is not some passing fad or a new thing to talk about or some new prophetic stream. Creativity is in Christ and you are in Christ and creativity is in you. When we walk in the beauty of our salvation, listening to the Spirit, and responding in obedience, we move. We flow forth in our destiny and purpose. The effect of this 'wind walk' is that the world looks, watched and notices - not us, but our glorious Savior. In our freedom, in our salvation, in His grace, in His beauty, the world sees Christ in us and through us. They are looking for someone. They are looking for Him. He is in us.

Meditate on your salvation. Don't think of it as a formalized concept of when you went forward in church or said a sinner's prayer or some other such thing. Think of when He came into your life. He is your Lord. He is your reality. You are a new creation in Him. Your born again life is like the wind, moving and creative and spontaneous, no matter who you are, where you live, what your social status, how much money you make, what color you are, how old you are, what gender you are.................You are in Christ and He is in you.

is this perhaps too abstract? Maybe but how can I make it clearer than this. You are born again if Christ is your Lord and Savior. Each of you is different with different placement in the Body. You are like the wind in your expression - internal reality with great effect. What are you called to do? Flow forth and express who He is in You.
